To make the World’s Best Big bubbles, you need to buy the 4 ingredients: Guar Gum, Baking Powder, 1 cup (8 oz.) Dawn Ultra or Platinum (Blue) and 1 gallon of Distilled water, which is best to use.

You will also need a whisk, a bubble wand, a bucket and measuring materials (1 tsp., 1 TBS. and 1 cup). I keep the supplies in a bucket so I can grab and go. I love how the Bubble Master wrote the recipe ON the bucket for easy reference, genius!

•1 tsp Guar Gum (can buy on Amazon)

•1 TBS Baking Powder

•1 cup Dawn Ultra or Platinum

Stir ingredients thoroughly (I used a whisk)

•add 1 gallon distilled (preferred) water

Stir again thoroughly

LET’S GOOOOOOOOO!! Ready to use right away!

The piece I am still experimenting with is the wand. I found some on Amazon that have been working fine but I think if you had an even bigger wand, it would make bigger bubbles. I am awaiting this wand to arrive in the mail and think it looks perfect. Also, the technique to which you blow the bubbles makes a difference. I have found if you dip then hold up the wand and let it set up for a few seconds, it works better. Play around with just holding the wand up, walking with the wand and moving the wand handles back and forth to make individual bubbles! I found it quite meditative!!

Big bubble trial and error

I have been in the big bubble recipe market for 5+ years. Big bubbles always stop me in my tracks and make me believe in magic, if only for a split second. I had one particularly enticing experience at the ocean, where a young man was making the MOST INCREDIBLE big bubbles (photos above). I asked if I could take a photo of his recipe on the bucket and he said yes! Except that when I went back to look for the photo, I could never find it.

Jump to me continuously googling “World’s Best Big Bubble Recipe” and the top hit that I have been using is a recipe from Happy Hooligans for 1-2 years. But it never worked SO well for me.

She even mentions that her recipe is a riff on another recipe, but she didn’t have the secret ingredient (which, spoiler alert: is a specific brand of lube). I was committed to getting this recipe right so I ordered 2 of the special lube and paid for shipping (GASP!!). But even with the ‘secret ingredient’ and after following the directions perfectly, you have to wait an hour + for the bubbles to work well and they still weren’t working all that great for me (despite making the solution 5+ times).

After years of inferior Big Bubbles, I had a wild hair of determination and thought, “I’m GOING TO FREAKING FIND that recipe photo on my phone and here I am to tell you: I FOUND IT! Above is the recipe adjusted with 1 gallon of water, which is the perfect quantity for my personal use (Big Bubbles for 30 minutes or so). I didn’t use all of it and it worked just as well the next day.
