Visiting San Diego
POPPIE LADY ON THE ROAD AGAIN:
SAN DIEGO
Welcome to my series ‘Poppie Lady On The Road Again,’ where I am sharing the most recommended tips and places to visit (children optional) in my favorite cities in California. You can view more photos and videos of these tips under my highlights ON INSTAGRAM.
I went to nursing school in San Diego and can only describe it as a sort of Disneyland, where each different part of town has a completely different theme with a trolley system that runs through all of it.
Familiarize yourself with the land! People will refer to ‘San Diego’ as anything from Chula Vista all the way up to Carlsbad, which is a 45 minute drive!
South San Diego: (Downtown, airport, Sea World). The airport is near Downtown San Diego. Across a bridge is Coronado, which is an exceptionally special island that always made me think of ‘NeverLand’. Old Town San Diego is a ‘living museum’ of the past with great Mexican food and vibes. Sea World is near Mission Beach. Pacific Beach and Mission Beach has a bit of a vagabond Beach bums and tourist vibe. I love the Catamaran Hotel and best California Burritos from Hole-In-The-Wall La Playa. Ocean Beach is a “free love” beach area that has a great Farmer’s Market Every Wednesday 4-8pm on the 4900 block of Newport Ave. between Cable and Bacon Streets.
North San Diego: (Legoland). As you head up north, the areas can tend to be a bit pricier (La Jolla for example). Areas like Carlsbad and Encinitas are calmer beach towns. Olympic Park is a great park to bring the kids to play around.
To Eat: Jake’s, Pacific Coast Grill, Monarch, Brigantine (Sandwiches- Board and Brew).
Encinitas: Peruvian: Q-Ero.
