Toddler Must Haves

I’d love to connect with you on Instagram, where I share home, health and lifestyle tips!

Since you’re here, I’m guessing you have access to a child. Please, PLEASE check out this post and video on how to help a child who is choking. It can save a life.

It’s amazing to me how the need for products drops SIGNIFICANTLY after the first year of life. Your little person eventually doesn’t need to travel with the same volume of luggage required for a weekend away! In fact, we don’t even use a diaper bag now that Cohen in 1.5. I just have a box of diapers in my trunk, along with a pack of wipes, sunscreen and a change of clothes.

Here are the few items we use regularly and most came highly recommended by World Famous Speech Language Pathologists (aka my cousin, Gail;).

Munchkin Miracle Sippy Cup ($12.99 for 2). If you haven’t heard, SIPPY CUPS ARE CANCELLED! They are not good for teeth and can cause issues in bite (and thus, speech). The Miracle “sippy cup” is actually an open-lid concept, but it does have a lid and is spill proof. They might as well be magic.

EZPZ Silicone Placemat ($19.99). These silicone plates are wonderful, prevent the plate from leaving the table and makes meal times fun and colorful. We have 2-3 of these and wash them in the dishwasher like we would with plates.

Ruff’s House ($20.94). This little dog house is a “reach and pull” toy that provides some fun entertainment for younger toddlers. It is truly intended for kids over 3 and they are supposed to reach inside and try to find matches for each set of bones based on how they feel (there is a set of silky bones, corduroy bones, bumpy bones, etc.).

Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Piggybank ($14.35). Toddlers LOVE this toy. I was not a big fan of plastic or electronic toys, but this little pig is one of Cohen’s favorite toys and he never seems to get tired of it. The Speech Department at Kaiser also highly recommended it.

I made Cohen a Mouse House using the Ikea Flisat Dollhouse ($34.99). It’s been an awesome toy to have out in our living room. He still plays with it (LOVES the mice!) and all of our small guests seem to take a liking to it. You can see more details about making your own on this post.

Is there anything your toddler can’t live without? Please share below so we can have some more ideas here!
