Always Glam, Time Saver, Love

“Being a Blondie, if I don’t wear mascara and eyeliner, I look ill. That’s just how it is. Eyelash extensions have saved me so much time getting ready and have me always looking ready to go.”

PROS: Eyelash extensions are a tip because I adore them. They make SUCH a huge difference in terms of my appearance. I used to struggle with my mascara/eyeliner smudging and thus I always looked a bit haggard, but since extensions I LITERALLY HAVEN’T WORN EYE MAKEUP in a year!! I don’t have to. My lashes look so dramatic and great that it is totally unnecessary to do anything else. When I was pregnant it was amazing to know I could #justwakeuplikethis and not have to put in a lot of effort to look presentable. When I was on the OR table having a C-Section all the ladies in the room were freaking out over how great they looked (surgeon, anesthesiologist, circulating nurse….). That’s my favorite part about them: little to no effort and you look pretty darn put together. I found a place in San Jose that charges $80 for a new set. I usually would get a new set every 5 weeks. (you can get fills for $60 every 3 weeks but I usually just waited to save money). I always fall asleep while they are applying them and it’s the only naps I ever take. It takes about an hour.

CONS: (this is an exhaustive list) First and foremost is price. I am actually going to remove them completely for the first time in a long time because we’re trying to save money. They are similar pricing to getting hair cut/colored and I hadn’t been doing that which is how I totally justified them, but there’s no two ways around it: they are expensive. The first few times I had them applied it was super strange to have someone working on my eyes (you lay down on a doctor’s table and they work from behind your head). The other cons I would mention are the fact that you can’t really scrub your eyes. I don’t wear eye makeup because I don’t need to but if I do it’s kind of hard to remove completely because I don’t like to scrub/clean aggressively. I had to give up wearing an eyemask and sleep on my back (which is recommended to reduce lines on your face and chest anyways), but I was a side-sleeper before. You totally can sleep on your side but I didn’t want to accidentally rub them in the night. If you are like me and trying to go awhile in between applications, they get a little wonky towards the end and I have to brush them everyday to try to keep them straight. Lastly, my lashes have come out some along the way so my natural lashes are much shorter than they were when I started extensions.
