DIY Balloon Garland

I have been jealously side-eyeing balloon garlands for years thinking “Could I do that? It looks so amazing and I think I might be able to…”

The answer? I can do it and so can you!! It’s easy. It’s cheap. And it looks fancy as heck.

What you need:

Electric Motor

Plastic Balloon Daisies (as part of motor kit)

70 (medium garland) or 90 (larger garland) Latex Balloons

3 larger Latex balloons

Blunt Needle

Fishing Line

Command Hooks to attach to a wall or string to tie to a staircase or objects

Pick an inspiration piece and buy balloons in those colors.

My inspiration candles have about 5-6 colors. You need to pick at least 3 colors. Depending on the size of the wall/area you want to cover, you should plan to buy 70-90 latex balloons, plus 3 large latex balloons if possible.

Inflate balloons

Use electric motor to inflate balloons. I inflated them all, then strung them up at the end. #TRACISTIPS: Don’t overfill the balloons, you actually want to under fill them so that they are ball shaped (and NOT pear shaped). Purposefully vary the sizes some so that you have at least 7 small balloons.

This electric balloon pump makes creating a balloon arch a breeze!

Create 3 or 4 “PODS” of balloons using flower chains

Attach 4-5 of the same color balloons to one of these pods and set your pods to one side

These flowers pod clips are a part of the motor kit, and you can also buy separately

String Together

Use a blunt needle and fishing line to string together balloons and I used 70 balloons.

I used the pattern of: 7 single, POD, 8 singles with 3 LARGE Latex balloons mixed in, POD, 5 single Balloons, POD, 13 single.

Attach to the Wall

You can attach to the wall using Command Hooks, or use string to tie to items like window hinges. I used the shape of a sideways question mark to arrange my garland. ?
